We MUST Stay Well
                                 Organizing
                                 Kind
                                 Educating

to provide safe spaces and support for youth, families, and educators throughout D.C.

At Stay W.O.K.E. D.C., we believe in a Nation's Capitol where every youth has the opportunity to heal from trauma and turn it into triumph. As The Future Foundation, we achieved this by opening and operating the 1st trauma-informed youth drop-in center in Ward 8 in April 2012.

After 13 years, our "drop-in center" model has evolved into decentralized trauma-informed environments.

These mobile drop-ins enable us to meet youth where they are, increasing program retention rates and reducing the risk of neighborhood violence.

Our trained staff have learned that youth can choose to create a future worth fighting for; instead of fighting one another.  This is still achieved by centering a social-emotional approach to achieving social justice. We call it #thefutureDC we want to see. But this time, our  staff returns with even more credentials applicable to the wounds of our young warriors.

Since The Future Foundation began on April 2, 2012, our work has been :

  • 100% trauma-informed.

  • 100% youth-led.

  • and 100% rooted in the Ward 8 commUNITY.

As we morph into Stay W.O.K.E. DC, we will serve the entire city because the trauma Ward 8 youth experience sends them all over the District of Columbia for the resources they deserve.
