About Stay W.O.K.E. D.C.
Stay W.O.K.E. D.C. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting traumatized youth in Washington D.C. Our mission emphasizes a social-emotional approach to achieving social justice, helping youth create a future worth fighting for rather than battling one another. Since our establishment on April 2, 2012, we have focused on being 100% trauma-informed, 100% youth-led, and deeply rooted in the Ward 8 community. We provide opportunities for resilient teens (ages 13+) and their families to learn wellness practices, peer support, and community organizing skills to transform the effects of childhood trauma into triumphs.

Mission
Our mission is to continue to provide trauma-informed support and resources to empower resilient youth, their families, and their educators starting with Ward 8 residents. We are committed to a social-emotional approach in achieving social justice and transforming the effects of childhood trauma into triumph for all.

Vision
Our vision is to create a future worth fighting for, where traumatized youth are WELL, ORGANIZING their community to address traumatizing social issues, KIND to the people they encounter daily and EDUCATING the people who love and hate them about why understanding each other is at least worth the effort and less pain than battling one another is.
